Classes

Welcome to the ‘Classes’ page. I teach skills in sewing, quilting, art and crafts.

My signature course is a special introduction to patchwork and quilting called ‘Quilt in a Day’. It’s a very individual, personalised, one-to-one course for absolute beginners to learn all the basics of quilt-making. The class takes place at my studio in Ramsgate.

‘Quilt in a Day’ beginner’s quilt course, one -to-one tuition

Do you want to get started with quilting? In just one day, you will make a small, sampler quilt and learn everything you need to make a bigger quilt in the future.  The only skill you need before starting is to be able to use a sewing machine to stitch a straight line of stitching.

You will have the tutor’s undivided attention: six hours personal, one-to-one tuition. The course fee includes a complete set of materials for you to use: cotton fabrics, wadding and thread. You tell me your favourite colours beforehand and I provide you with a carefully curated selection of fabrics, ready for you to use on the day. All the equipment you need is provided. You only need to bring your own packed lunch! I give you tea, coffee and biscuits for the morning and afternoon breaks. It’s a full day, but a relaxing one. The cost is £115.

This is a review from a recent learner after the ‘Quilt in a Day’ course: “One of my long held dreams came true when I spent the day with Amanda doing the quilting course! The day was everything I had hoped for; hands-on, easy to follow, inspiring, motivational and totally relaxed. The hours whizzed by and before I knew it the day was ended and I had so many new skills to take home and practise. Thank you so much Amanda, you are a gifted teacher and it was a joy to be your student. I feel like the “mystery of patchwork” has finally become clear!! If you are thinking about doing this course, DO IT.
