My popular quilt pattern ‘Thankful’ has been updated this week. It’s a pattern to make a long, pieced textile item that can serve as a table runner – or, with a hanging sleeve added at the back, you can use it as a wall-hanging. (There’s a tutorial on how to make a hanging sleeve – seen in the photo below – in the post right here)

Here it is as a table runner. It can obviously be used for Thanksgiving in America and Canada but it also makes a good everyday table runner; there are always things to be thankful for.

The pattern itself is quite a complex one, as the letters for the word ‘Thankful’ , the leaves and the star are all pieced, not appliquĆ©d, to the background squares. Here’s a photo of the completed runner:

It’s a great project for using scraps. There are 26 different fabrics and you could use a variety of cream fabrics for the background (or a single fabric, obviously). The instructions are the usual step-by-step directions with a photo for each stage, so although there is a lot going on in the pattern, it is all laid out very clearly.
Plus, this week it has had some extra attention, so it is better than ever! You can get the pattern here
