I am. usually quite well organised with buying, wrapping and sending Christmas gifts. This dates from the time, many years ago, when I was pregnant with twins who were due in December. I knew things were going to get busy later in the year so I began to buy Christmas gifts in August. It was relaxing to browse and select things in the Summer months, without any pressure and so I repeated the pattern in later years too.
This year, November and December have been particularly busy with various celebrations, including three family birthdays and visitors from abroad coming to holiday in Kent. Today I have been wrapping presents, wrapping labels and taking brown-paper parcels to the local Post Office, to make sure they go before the Last Posting Day declared by Royal Mail. I may even have looked for some ‘last-minute’ items online.
So… I’m going to recommend a last-minute gift that you can buy instantly and you don’t even have to wrap it.
Several years ago, not long after I first started out with Amanda Jane Textiles, I put together a course which offers a simple introduction to quilt-making, called ‘Make Your First Quilt’. You can buy it and download it so you can watch each sections, stopping and starting as you need to. There is a quilt pattern to accompany the course which you get as part of the package. The cost is £39 which represents extremely good value for money. The course would make a good present for someone who likes to sew and wants to make a start with a new craft – quilting.
Or you could put it on your own wish-list!
Here is a review of the course from a previous customer:
It was good that the course is made up of a number of short video clips, making it easy to return to different points of the process when I had got to that point and being able to repeat them for greater understanding. Instructions were clear and well illustrated. I have now completed my quilt! It doesn’t bear close inspection, as I didn’t line up all my squares correctly and I found it difficult doing the corners on the binding, but it looks good and I wouldn’t have been able to do it without this course.
