Emma Goff 7.JPG

This week’s interview is with small business owner Emma Goff.  I met Emma via Michelle Rose (click here to find out about Michelle).  I was particularly taken with Emma’s striking business card:

What is the name of your business?    The Cleaning Fairy

When did it start?       September 2012

Why did you decide to start a business?

Because I didn’t want to go back to work full-time after my second child.

What jobs had you done before?    I was an Insurance Loss Adjuster.

Tell me a bit about ‘The Cleaning Fairy’.

It’s a domestic and commercial cleaning company – anything from a one bedroom flat to an office building. We also offer chambermaid services for Bed and Breakfast businesses.

What things have been difficult for you in setting up/running your business?

Not knowing anything! Only now am I learning how to do things correctly.  It was so difficult to learn how to do accounts.

What would you say to someone in the early stages of setting up a business?

Don’t say ‘no’ even if you are too busy – you will manage.     Always remember the reason you started!

What is the best thing about working for yourself?

Being there for my family. I’ve never missed a school play or a sports day, I was here for the six-week holiday.
